It might be a hard-poly thing? I mean. Monogamy norms are much stricter in the het community than the gay community, and sex comes with a lot more possessive baggage. (Which some writers also project onto their gay and lesbian ships, but IME, it's easier to avoid those writers than it is the avoid the general expectation that you don't love your partner "properly" if you're fine with their sleeping with other people, and vice versa.) So, like ... your preference might have something to do with that.

I like open het pairings a lot better than ones where each person is supposed to act like the sun rises and sets on their partner's nose. :P
