Re: Writing Vent
(Anonymous) 2023-06-04 08:14 am (UTC)(link)1) summaries aren't super important (I usually write a short sentence to give a general gist of what the fic will be; it's a creative decision based upon me wanting to emulate a writer I like a lot, I don't care much if my summaries don't entice people to read my fics)
2) The Mary Sue claim on most femme-coded characters is annoying AF. I used to be very, "oh no, I create Mary Sues, I need to not create Mary Sues," but as the years have gone by I feel like the Mary Sue label is used so much I think it's lost all meaning outside of, "Femme presenting character who does anything".
It's a lot like the word "gaslight" to me. I don't use either words much at all because I don't really know what the true definition is anymore.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-04 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)Long summaries actually turn me off to reading a fic. IDK if it's a popular thing, just a me thing. Most fics with long summaries have my ADHD brain go, "too much reading before getting to the fic, no thanks."
