He is...but it is almost understandable - it was the book of poems that Dante teased him over - and one that he was reading when it all slid to Hell (literally). I'm not making excuses for Vergil (not in the slightest - both he and his brother are assholes), but I can see from a 'totally opposite my brother and withdrawn and bookish and quiet' way, how he fixated on Blake as the only solid thing in his life for a long, long time.

Also, though they are assholes, for a bangbangshoot'emup game series, they made some deep (though tropey) lore, with some deep (though equally tropey) characters.
