Huh, I've read the first few books ages ago and kinda liked them (Karin Slaughter books and I have a complicated relationship), but I didn't know there is a show till now!
How different is it? I assume this is before he meets Sara? (Always liked her better with Will than Tolliver but also couldn't stand how Angie could NEVER have a win or simply be right for once. It was very frustrating and got boring.)

Not having read the books I cannot answer your questions but I do know an article that could be helpful --- https://collider.com/will-trent-tv-series/

As someone who watched the series when it premiered -- I rather enjoyed it overall.

OP

I've read a handful the series, not all by far, so can only talk to what I've read. But no, Sara doesn't seem to be a character in this.

Apart from the casting differences mentioned in the article the other anon linked, is mainly different in that it's an episodic procedural rather than following a single mystery over the series. And honestly it seems they've changed the vibe of how the characters interact to fit that. Like, there's a definite 'found family' vibe to Will's interactions with his colleagies that I certainly never got from the books and that seems to be something added by the TV writers to soften/counter the depressing parts where Will and Angie discuss their past.

I'm pretty sure I saw that Will Trent (the series) was cancelled.

Nah, it's been renewed for a second season.
