...so what was rhe question we are never supposed to ask?

May I recommend Ask a Mortician's video essay on the whale ship Essex disaster? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QS299VkXZxI

In fact, I recommend all her historical documentary (centered on death, because well, mortician.) They are incredibly well made, well researched, and entertaining.

Whoops, same poster as above. I meant to respond to the general thread to this particular F!S secret, not one of the commenters. My bad!

Thank you, I'll look them up!

YES

It was incredibly dumb, basically his claim was that one of the youngest crew members asked if it was time to draw lots (to see who'd have to die and be eaten) and then the same guy drew the short straw, got shot, and was eaten.

So it was The Lottery made manifest?

I mean, technically it's not wrong - as soon as the situation is dire enough that the delicate question ("Shall we draw lots to see who gets cannibalised") has to be asked, chances are high that yes, someone will die. But considering the alternative in those situations is "everyone dies eventually", it's pretty clickbaity nonetheless.

Yeah, I don't follow the account but I occasionally watched some videos when they popped up and I got so damn annoyed at this one. Like, dude, how long can you drag out something that's kinda obvious from the point you started telling the story? It's not "great storytelling" to never actually get to the point of whatvexactlybhappened and while yes, that's simply the style he chooses for his videos, it was particularly grating in this one.

I find his videos entertaining (I binge-listened to a bunch of them while sewing masks a few years ago), but he definitely does clickbait titles, and at least once used a creepypasta without acknowledging it (a story about a girl being stalked by 'Dr Ramsay' which heavily implies her father killed him. I thought it sounded familiar, so I Googled, and it was a creepypasta).

I binge-listened (while playing Stardew Valley, lol) all of his stuff about a month ago after getting a random YT recommendation and I have to say that the sharp decline in quality was extremely blatant and evident. I just stopped watching the recent stuff and didn't pick it up again; just another dude who struck gold with a winning formula and got greedy (looking at you, Cinema Sins)
