Is the second one more than 10 years old? Adult books older than that didn't used to have to talk about bad things being bad unless there was a reason the story called for it, because you were kinda expected to already know it was bad if you were old enough to be reading the book.

Nope, published 2021! It was just the way it was written that it was like very clear that X wanted to bang Y (and maybe kill her) and they were direct first couisins, and A and B who were siblings had this weird co-dependent relationship and maybe more... but none of the other characters thought this was all weird??

Haha, it wasn't that I wanted a lecture on 'this is bad hdu', but it was just weird that NO ONE, not even the writing seemed to acknowledge it was a thing. The only thing I can think of is that it wasn't intended to come across as "I want to bang and murder my cousin" despite the fact that it seemed VERY VERY obvious to me (and from what I'd read in other reviews, other readers too).
