Honestly, Knuckles is a really good choice for that! And even if it's not healthy to like... 'become' a character at the expense of being your own self 24/7, I think it IS healthy to have characters who are strong in the face of problems like the ones you face, and to say 'hey, if X could survive this, I can survive this'. And if you sometimes have to play pretend a while to get through the hard times, that's not at all a bad thing.

Coping mechanisms only become unhealthy when we cling to them past the point that they help us.
