Pat Robertson and Margaret Thatcher were both awful human beings who caused a ton of pain and suffering for people, I can’t believe you’re even using this as an example. “Your side cheered on the death of Mussolini, you’re not pure” like come the fuck on.

Yeah, those are terrible examples.

But you don't have to look far to find better ones. TRAs on Twitter were gloating and posting stuff like "rest in piss" at Robbie Coltrane's death (the actor who played Hagrid) because he spoke out in support of JK Rowling.

Twitter's garbage with its very special echo chamber.

Yeah, how it seemed to me, too. But it stuck in my mind because previously they were making much of the fact that the most prominent actors who spoke out on her behalf were Jason Isaacs, Helena Bonham Carter, and Ralph Fiennes. (Can't remember if Alan Rickman did or not.) And then they were savage about this guy for breaking their assertion that "the only ones defending her played death eaters!!"

And that's an assertion that they keep trotting out, in spaces where it can be safely assumed people didn't bother to keep up with Potter cast gossip.
