First it's abortions ban, now this. What's USA coming to? Poland too. The World is moving backwards.
I agree on surgery ban for minors part of this though. I'm not in the US and do bot vote so no point hating on me.

NO minors are having surgery. Unless you're talking about circumcision, or about parents choosing the gender of their intersex newborn and having 'corrective' surgery done on them.

here you go. With how much hospitals are making from this I'm not surprised.

So every site I visited to read about this case was a far-right/sensationalized site, with zero comments or statements from the actual doctors or hospitals.

If you actually think this happens regularly or often, you are not only ill-informed, but willfully ignorant.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-19 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
wow. You can just go search this case, or another one filed against the same hospital. You're so deep in denial that the only information you believe is the one that your sites publish that align with your agenda. All other sources lie.
It happens. Why wouldn't it if there's no law against it? If it's allowed then it's not prohibited. Echo chambers x1000.

I'm sorry you eyes had to see those heretic sites but am glad that you didn't have to extert any effort to actually check these cases. I mean there's some 15 kids somewhere in a school and that's somehow the only thing that matters. All other kids are irrelevant.

tldr: we do not need laws against gender change surgery for kids because there's none being performed anyway. Riiiiight. Gotcha.

Oh, please. I don't believe ANY site as one-sided as the hysterical, right-wing echo-chambers that this story was published on; that it only makes them feel as if they are vindicated in denying children AND ADULTS gender-affirming care (and cis-gendered individuals as well), is the ultimate goal of the right-wing hate parade.

What happened to these individuals is not the norm, is not 'business as usual' and is certainly not some cash cow being milked by hospitals (again, can we say right-wing hysteria? Anti-vaxx nonsense come to mind?). And this DID NOT happen without parental knowledge and consent, but nobody, it seems, wants to acknowledge that.

I'll withhold judgement until I have all the actual facts, thank you - you might do the same. And if this were happening to hundreds or thousands of children? We'd hear about it.

I'm done with this conversation now, so please don't bother to reply, I won't be reading.

i was about to link to these court cases on the gov sites. But oh well. At least we agree that the rest of the law is backwards bullshit.
For anyone reading this thread there's a YT video on some guy's detransition and the parents say that they were lead astray by the midical so called professionals.

Btw, there's a lot of evidence for anti wax. Statistics about heart disease in vaxed population, etc. I had covid 3 weeks after getting vacine when, supposedly, the defense against it is the strongest. It was pretty nasty with a neurological aftermath that's just getting better 2 years after. Fainting and panic atacks, I had it all.

It's a cluster of beliefs - you can't say anything against trans movement, under reasearched vaccines and the new Cleopatra documentary. It's all grouped together. I'm pro disphoria treatments and a right to choose gender but I refuse to subscribe to every agenda point the Media feeds us. Looking at how differently Media spins the story depending on agenda I don't trust any one site to show full picture.

I bet I was labeled far right as soon as I said there's antivax evidence. I think I won't be checking on this page anymore either. I just placed my cat that's just 3 years old into hospital 24h care and need positive vibes only. No more fs and reddit for me.

Guess you're unlikely to see this, but this anon is sending positive vibes for you.

DA

I don't want to fight with you Tabaqui, but I assume you haven't heard about Chloe Cole and Kayla Lovdahl (a.k.a Layla Jane). Both are pursuing legal action in the US for trans surgeries that were done through Kaiser Permanente health insurance before they were 18. The latter had a double mastectomy at 13. The former had a double mastectomy at 15.

Their cases are being shamelessly exploited by the far right just as you would expect, but ... doctors haven't been adhering to the official line about only doing surgeries on adults. Apparently.

I hadn't heard about them by name, no, but I was aware there was something going on.
However, the hysteria of the far right about 'mutilation' children has devolved into banning gender-affirming care for adults, as well, and has also impacted cis-gendered children who have been receiving these therapies for years.

These two (and apparently very isolated) surgeries did not happen without parental knowledge and consent, and I very much doubt that either child came into the hospital only to have surgery the next day. Is what happened to them regrettable and an apparent tragedy in their lives? Yes. Is it an indicator of this happening to hundreds or thousands of transgender children all over the US? No, it is not.

Why/how it happened is not clear to me at all, and until then, I'm not going to judge the entire cadre of doctors that work with transgender individuals by this small sampling, nor in any way approve of or say it 'vindicates' the abominable shite going on in my state and in the entire country regarding transgender children and gender-affirming care.

Unfortunately, yeah. Cases like these become excuses for conservatives to argue that people should have less say over what's done with their bodies.

But I think they've been gaining ground recently because the LGBT community has neglected to address that there's trouble. These two lawsuits are not primarily aimed at the doctors who did the surgeries. They're targeting the health insurance company that paid for them. And if we have health insurance companies in the US that are shelling out money to operate on thirteen and fifteen year old trans kids, it's no longer a case of "this isn't happening to any minors, that's just a right-wing lie." Which ... I could already guess from the rhetoric I've seen online in trans spaces, claiming that people will pass much more convinvingly after hormones and surgery if their body hasn't reached sexual maturity, first.
