As someone who struggled with this in the past I don't like it either .

However the truth is people who say this and defend it's usage , well you have to treat them like sharks who crave the smell of blood (vulnerability) or trolls. . If they see you get upset it makes them happy and they push more.

So act unflappable. Respond with a joke . Brush it off etc. My favorite is "kill me yourself coward, if you can find me.".
