Mte I know plenty were on board with the blackout but I haven’t seen any drop in activity in any of my subs, fandom or otherwise. I’ve actually seen more newbies than usual for this time of year.

People aren't leaving because a lot of places are malicious compliancing

It seems like the people in charge of running Reddit are going to keep making the site worse

A lot of people have. Several of my comments have gone dark permanently and I know the mods left. Not sure of they came here bit they did leave.

Are they really here? From the threads I've seen, it seems there's a lot of recs to Lemmy or discord comms.

I didn't even know there were third party APIs. I only ever go on Reddit on a browser. I had no idea there were apps. People say it's going to be a big chunk of folks leaving it, and maybe that's the case, but none of my comms on Reddit have gone private. Some have paused on the updates. But I feel like a lot of them are casual users. Not hardcore I have reddit on my phone going off like a beeper.

Anyway, I'm not quite sure what kind of comms I'd want to see here because I'm really just here for casual fandom experiences.

I wish there was a general, chill space to meta about Genshin Impact. Characterizations, character designs, shipping, lore, whatever. I was so happy to find the GI kink meme on Dreamwidth, and those writers have serious chops, but I don't really feel like I can contribute there because these aren't characters I can hear in my head and visualize scenes with, in their majority. I have things to say about them, but I don't really have the hang of voicing as them. And by definition, it's a large-cast sort of game, as opposed to one where you spend a long time getting to know a finite amount of characters.

Might think of others if I consider it more, though. What do you want to see, Doutzen?

I'm not super into Genshin but I would LOVE to see a general Genshin community.

For me personally, I'd love to see a community for Linux enthusiasts.

I would love a good "suggest a book" type of community.

Or a type of "if I like X what will I like" community. Thise are always fun.

I can't ever even find active communities here, so maybe we need a "favorite communities" thread once a week or something

Older gamers, I guess. I should probably specify JRPG but I'm sure it'd all skew Final Fantasy or some other series I just feel okay about. Yes, I know beggars can't be choosers, and there's nothing wrong with the younger crowd but I'd like to talk to fellow old farts too. I guess it'd have to be multiple communities because I'm sure folks who love other types of games probably don't want to get stuck with discussion of all the ones I enjoy either. Alternatively, I could just accept things as they are.

I've been wanting to get into more JRPG's too. I am a bit interested in FF but I want to see stuff for other franchises too.

A worldbuilding community would be great. Like a community for people who enjoy doing it for fun.

One for self-inserts, reader-inserts, the like. I know they’re not well liked, but it’s the main way I do fandom.

Ship_Manifesto and Crack Van were my regular LJ haunts and I miss them, so... those

I actually contacted DW Support inquiring if the ownership of ship_manifesto could be transferred to me, since its current mod hasn't been active on here since around 2012. Hopefully they get back to me on that sometime.
