I honestly still think you’re right. And I like Genesis, especially Peter Gabriel’s era. But I feel that this song is clunky, and is trying too hard to be biting social commentary. I feel like this was the case back then, and I don’t feel like it becomes anymore profound or true nowadays either.

This is a random aside, and is only related because Genesis, but one really underrated song of theirs imo is “The Day the Lights Went Out”. That song scared the hell out of me as a kid, and still creeps me out to this day! But nobody ever talks about it, which sucks, because I think it’s good.
