I'm not but I'm from a nearby European country and I wonder if it's simply because pronunciation between Italian and my native tongue is somewhat similar, so I easily parse their English when a native speaker might struggle with the accent. I wonder if someone from France understands their English just as clearly.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-30 11:46 am (UTC)(link)Possibly. I'm from Italy and when I speak English with people from France they always tell me my English is very understandable. Aside from my accent, which is not very strong but is still there, I think it's the words ans sometimes almost broken grammar we tend to use.
On the other hand, English with heavy French accent for me is almost gibberish... I really don't understand French and I kind of dislike the language (sorry).
