Honestly my take on this show is that it was a decent attempt at rebooting the OG anime, and it even had aspects to it that I liked and thought could have worked down the line, but the show ultimately fumbled itself hard and it never was what it could have been. Which is a shame but it happens.

I was never invested to the point of being mad about it though, just kinda disappointed that it squandered it's potential.

Same here. I've honestly been thinking about going back and watching just the first season, because I remember a lot from it that I enjoyed and the potential I thought I saw.

The first 2 seasons hold up imo, its where I can see the potential the best but then it all snow dives off a cliff after that point and it's a muddling mess from then on. So I think a re-watch of season 1 would still be very enjoyable if you want to do that.

I liked the show and can respect your takes. Individually in had a lot of things I enjoyed, but in its totality it was a big, fat mess.

Glasses = unattractive? I thought Pidge was cute as hell.

I thought Pidge looked like the wizard kid from the 80s DND cartoon, but I also loled/rolled my eyes at OP and their "Ugh, not glasses" nonsense.

DA I thought Pidge was cute as hell, too! But in universe she’s very specifically unattractive because of her glasses, hair, and styling. I only watched the first one or two seasons so maybe it got better but it was actually something mentioned at least once or twice in earlier episodes.

No? She's Hollywood Homely at worst. You know, the kind of character who you the viewer are supposed to think is fairly attractive and any comments about her looks in universe are only there to make you think the person saying it is wrong. Same as how Keith got comments in universe about his "stupid mullet" but we weren't supposed to think he was unattractive (quite the opposite), just that Lance was immature and salty.

I disagree on all counts BUT I absolutely respect the opinions.

My only opinion on Voltron was that the show was mediocre but Shiro was hot and I'm glad he got the most rule 34.

Damn OP, even if you find Pidge unattractive (which is fine, looks are subjective), it certainly wasn't the intent of her design. There were never any jokes about her looks on the show and the whole fandom took it as a given that she was cute and intended to be so.

I enjoyed it, but was Profoundly Uninterested in the Shipping, so found the fanfic quite frustrating.

I thought Shiro was unfit to be their leader, too. Maybe a(n unreliable) part of the team, but a person who has PTSD so bad that he gets psychotic episodes and yeets prisoners into space isn't fit to lead anyone anywhere.

I also thought it was overall a bad decision to make the leader character so clearly much older and more experienced than the team he's supposed to lead. I liked Allura and Keith as leaders much more because there was a learning curve there and no one was automatically like "yes we trust you because you're An Adult and we're Just Kids".
