(Anonymous) 2023-06-30 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)Sandman season 2 just started filming btw! They're going ahead without writers adjusting stuff as they go along which... could go very wrong, but I'm hoping for the best.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-01 12:18 am (UTC)(link)I'm trying to console myself that plays get produced constantly whose playwrights have been dead for centuries and do perfectly well with only cutting lines. But tv/film has to account for stuff like oh shit the weather/actor x broke an arm/animal costar is stuck in quarantine/whatever other crazy shit, plus just "gotta film this scene differently because we ran out of time/money."
So I'm nervous but also mad because ffs just pay people so they can do good work.
Also I have no clue how stuff like actors improvising fits in with the WGA strike. If someone switches a line around and the writers aren't there to approve it, can it even be used?
But anyway, assuming all of Sandman's original run gets adapted, I'm still hopeful for the Netflix version of Dream and Hob's relationship to continue more romantic than in the comics.
Here's hoping s2 really leans into them sharing a possible last bottle of wine in Hob's dreams, heh.
And as for how the whole thing ends, even just seeing Ferdinand Kingsley punch a centaur and break down sobbing while screaming "he can't be dead, he's my friend!" would make me cry buckets. Even without kissing on the beach afterwards.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-01 01:08 am (UTC)(link)Speculation ranges from "ploy on the part of the characters" to "one or both are actually someone else in disguise" to "heartfelt confession" to "alternate universe" and all sorts of other stuff, but until the season airs, no clue which is true.
But there is video of the actors made up as the characters and kissing, so even if it's some kind of fakeout, at least show Aziraphale/Crowley fans got the visual.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-01 01:21 am (UTC)(link)Hmmm. I'm...not sure how to feel about that. I think I mostly just want them to be friends* but a tiny part of me could possibly ship them, maybe? I don't know, I'm conflicted.
*Not for homophobic reasons; most of my ships are m/m, I just mostly am not feeling it with these two, but I think maybe I'd be okay with it depending on how it was written.
