SDCC is actually local(ish) to me, I can get there on public transit, and I've been able to get a pass through my job since prices went through the roof. If any of those things changed, I'd probably stop going. It always happens around my birthday so I take the week off. This year is a milestone one; I'll be 40 (but have only been going 19 years I think.)
I'd like to go to Dragoncon at least once. There are always a few authors and big film/tv projects I'm happy to see promos for, but mostly I go for work and to dress up (badly) and admire other cosplayers' work, so I expect I'll enjoy myself regardless of big studios fucking off this year. Sometimes I'll buy prints/small cosplay things/etc.
(Pay writers and actors (and behind the scenes/cameras workers!) enough to live on, you asshole skinflint pre-3 ghostly visit Scrooge studio CEOs!)
