I don't tend to bother with American shows, anymore. But I can relate. I'm debating whether to watch Will, partly because what I've read about Christopher Marlowe makes him seem like a really memorable character, and partly because Jaimie Campbell Bower looks fantastic.

So yeah, "at least one character" - and I'm a lot more likely to give something a chance if one of the main characters is someone I enjoy looking at, listening to, and trying to figure out which emotions are producing that particular expression. What they're thinking, feeling, hiding, scheming for, exulting over, despairing over ... all of that.

Uh, as far as I know, Jason Stryker has always been male. In X2, he has telepathic illusionary powers and appears as a little girl in other peoples' minds, but I thought that was just to appear as unthreatening and vulnerable as possible. His father sent Jason to the Xavier institute to be "cured" of his mutation and he came back angry and tortured both his parents with his illusions, causing his mother to commit suicide.

But the subtext of the scene with Bobby's parents in X2, Singer very much seemed to use being a mutant as a metaphor for being gay. So, I don't know.

I am the exact opposite! I only like watching the supernatural ones where they are hunting sasquatch or looking for ghosts and Ryan is all scared and Shane is a die hard skeptic. The true crime stuff is boring to me. I can just read an article if that's what I'm there for.
