What frustrating hobby stuff are you dealing with?

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2023-07-14 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I am trying to attach a horn to the narwhal I crocheted and it looked horrible. So I cut it off and now the narwhal has a point on his head. :( And I still need to make and figure out a better way to attach a new horn. Also, the white bulky yarn is horrible to work with.

I am redoing some kitchen chairs and I have sanded and cleaned so much but things keep bleeding through the new paint and what should have been a really simple project has just turned really annoying. Also it keeps raining and this is an outdoor project so it keeps getting pushed back and at this point I just want it done and over with.

Oh no! What kind of things bleed thru?

I didn’t have any nice grey embroidery thread and always procrastinated buying some. Now I have four projects that really need it and Prime Day happened before it got here. I didn’t order it from Amazon (they don’t sell it) so it could be weeks before it gets delivered :(

I have the problem of too many materials because people keep gifting me yarn.

It is blazing hot here and I want to swim. But my knee is still not good, and I still haven't gotten the referral I need to an orthopedist from my primary. It has been a month and a half. I keep leaving messages. I don't have time to physically go down to complain.

Yes, I'm switching doctors. But my insurance won't cover a specialist without a referral.

Wouldn't swimming be good for an injured knee? Weightless, stress free movement? Unless you have a surgical thing going on, in which case - no immersing the knee. :D

Maybe. I guess I just didn't want to do anything until I talked to a specialist and got their advice.

Also, stairs are really painful, so getting in and out of the pool would be an issue.

At this point I'm just trying to find enough time to sort all my photos from last summer in between preparing for a running race and entering the fine arts competition for the state fair. I need more time to just get anything done.

A Poshmark sale I made got damaged in the mail. The polymailer got cut open somehow and the item fell out somewhere along the way. It's been two days and Poshmark hasn't resolved the case yet. I'm hopeful that Posh will refund both me and the buyer, but it's stressing me out a little. I would really like to not be out $65 dollars. :/

Good luck. I hate working with USPS/UPS to deal with missing packages.

Good luck with your narwhal, I'm sure he'll be cute regardless.

I need to spruce up old cosplay for SDCC since I made nothing new this year, and get over my fear of ruining my next project because I still don't think I have the skillset for it.

(Dammit, self, you will acquire the skillset while doing the damn project, you've been making abortive runs at it for 20 fucking years! Just do it before you have to give the end result to a younger cosplayer because it looks ridiculous on a pudgy middle aged lady!)

Okay this called me out. I have been thinking "will I go to this con in this cosplay ..... or won't I ......." and it's cosplays I have wanted to do for 10+ years, some 20+ . Procrastinating doesn't seem viable anymore.

AYRT—procrastinators unite! (In annoyance at the perfect being the enemy of the good.)

And hey, I believe in you. Pick one cosplay on your procrastination list and do the next step whether that's researching materials or sewing on a button.

Gonna go knock something off my to-do list rn.
