I'm reading this slow burn romance, science fiction novel right now and it's pretty clear from early on the guy was attracted to this woman, but she either ignores him or is oblivious to it, and then she had like a crisis and only he could help her with it, so they're growing closer as friends and his comments have kind of shifted to acknowledging what other people think about him regarding his appearance and attitude (including comments she herself made about him before they were friendly) but he's been SO SWEET to her since her issues began, I just want her to register some of the things he says and stop him, because it makes me sad the way he tears himself down. Like, come on, lady. I know you're struggling, but notice hiiiiiiim.
