Get that thought out of your head!

(Anonymous) 2023-07-25 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Do you have a weird idea or paranoid concern that won't leave you alone? Don't want to tell your brickspace peeps because it's weird or unsettling? Dump it here and run away into the night!

I'll start! Do you think that the metaphorical dead horse you're not supposed to beat is the same one that you couldn't make drink?

Not paranoid, just a weird shower thought I have nowhere to share...

The "Who" in Doctor Who is the same as the "Hello" in Hello Kitty.

This is true! It's also ironic, since the bands The Who and Hello have very little in common.

Why oh why have I had the Roadrunner theme song stuck in my head for a week? I haven't even listened to it or watched the show at all recently. It is just randomly stuck in my head.

Would you like to have something else stuck in your head?

I got several youtube videos by following this link which had nothing in common, especially one about the JFK assassination and another one about Yogi Bear!!

This world is so nuts that JFK and Yogi Bear are probably connected somehow!

Yes I have, thankfully the medication I am given keeps my paranoia down to functional levels though. I have gone full tinfoil over the windows and tearing the smoke detectors apart for bugs in the past though. It ruined my life. It wasn't fun or funny. Not a joking matter, and maybe you should think twice about this sort of joke in future.

I'm just going to go ahead and assume this is a troll trying to start drama. Moving along.

I'm always low-key worried that I'm much louder than I think I am and my neighbors can hear everything I do.

I'm worried I'm falling out of love with my one meat-space hobby. I can't tell anyone because I made all my friends through this hobby. I'm in my 30s and scared to start all over but I don't know if I'm still enjoying it or just keeping up through inertia.

Do you and your hobby friends do anything together that’s not the hobby? If not, maybe have a hobby friend movie night or something and start building sone ties around not the hobby. As long as you don’t actively hate the hobby and it’s not, like, museum heists or something where you and your hobby friends need plausible deniability/alibis, you should still be able to hang out together.

non-con & transphobia, maybe?

(Anonymous) 2023-07-25 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
So, I really like this trope where a strong male character ends up with a VJ and ends up getting hurt and non-conned. I've been asked here if it's just a kink for trans men, and I don't think so? Because part of the appeal is that the strong male character has never had their strength or their maleness questioned. I feel like like trans men have pretty much had to discover their maleness for their own, and had to fight to get it legitimized, but the kind of strong male characters I'm thinking of have never had their masculinity or their strength questioned.

Note: When I say strong male characters, it's the characters who are > 80% of the time the tops in ships.

I feel like when you have those super strong characters that both cañon and fandom treat as unquestionably dominant, it's almost a mindscrew if they're portrayed as soft or unsure. In some ways, the reason I craft VJs onto these characters is just because I want them to bottom, and I'm not into butt stuff. But depending on the verse, a male character might undergo a crisis of self if they put too much stock into fitting society's idea of masculinity, which includes having a huge D.

And then you have the non-con. Like I said, even fandom treats having these characters bottom or suffer non-con is rare, so it's almost like a forbidden fruit to all of us. If Link or Zelda was in that soft, vulnerable position, you'd say ok, I saw that coming. But if someone wrote soft, vulnerable, post-rape Ganondorf? The average fan probably wouldn't even know how to react to that. There'd probably be some uncomfortable laughter, or you (general) would assume the writer had just lost their mind, or you'd wonder if this was just some pod person with Ganondorf's name. The average fan would barely be able to fathom it. It's almost forbidden in a way, to portray a character with that much raw dominance and strength as vulnerable and traumatized and needing protection. And that's why I'm so fascinated by it.

And from the strong character's perspective, being powerful is probably baked into their identity at that point. Being SA'd is, wrongly, seen as a thing that happens to weak and/or feminine characters. Being traumatized, that doesn't happen to characters like that. They would probably have to deeply rethink who they are on a fundamental level. For characters who are that powerful for that long, it would probably be almost like losing a limb. Like, they could probably fathom losing to the hero in a legendary battle, but being soft and vulnerable and unable to protect yourself? It would be unthinkable. And much like fandom wouldn't assume that you were just writing a pod person with the character's name, the character themselves might wonder if they're even still really themselves.

I don't know, I just think it's a neat idea.
