Re: GNC how, and faves?

This used to happen to me all the time. Occasionally to my brother, too, because he's got the most fantastic curly hair. Doesn't phase either of us. Then I moved to a part of Europe where women with short hair are way more common, and people tend to guess right.

I think it's a culture thing, because the few times I've seen someone get it wrong (with someone else), they seem embarassed? While Americans often seemed sort of disappointed if their not being able to tell didn't embarass the person they misgendered. Very different vibe.

FWIW, I live in the States and most of the people who get mistaken are a bit concerned. I generally let them know I would only be offended if they either doubled down or treated me as subhuman because of my perceived GNC.

I wish I could have short hair, but with my hair texture, face shape, and prominent ears combined, I'd look like a mess (but then I guess if I were GNC if I wouldn't care about that).

With the shortest I got my hair cut without me looking like a complete mess, I saw myself in the mirror at the salon and the first thought that ran through my head was "Oh god I look like I'm about to ask to speak to a manager."
