Lol you're not wrong. I literally went from feeling uncomfortable trying to read a RPF out of curiosity (think it was a supernatural one years and years before that was a bit too much for me), to realizing that AUs are the key to enjoyment haha.

I think the ones I get weird about are the ones set too close to IRL stuff (like when the person being written about has lost a family member and a fic writer decides to write about how they feel - that sort of thing I can't handle). Put the people into a drastically different scenario like a mafia AU then I'm all for it.

AYRT - Oh, no, that sounds disgusting. AU fics can be so much fun, though. Or just u know, the “they didn’t kiss on that red carpet… but what if they had” ones.

Honestly? I never cared where the author was getting their names and faces from, as long as the story sounded like something I wanted to read.
