Re: What do you miss from the internet of old?

Not gonna lie it is weird to me that fanartists don't really have a place (like pixiv, da) to share things right now. It's either instagram or twitter, both of which don't really envision artists. They're terrible, in fact, for art display. I don't do "X" so I have been following fanartists I like on IG so I don't lose track of them but my IG is mostly for fashion-related stuff, so I guess they're gonna disappear from my feed eventually

Yes, exactly! I only do fanart every once in a while, but I keep hearing complaints from my fanartist friends and I totally understand their frustration. Twitter is awful for art sharing, and while Tumblr was always better in that sense, their nsfw ban (which I'm unsure if is still fully on?) really got rid of so many fanart all of a sudden, and artists left because of it. I wish they had a decent place for art, truly.

AYRT - exactly this. I used to share my art on Tumblr but then everyone left, so I went to DA for a while, and now I quit drawing and I realize not having a community that makes me want to improve plays a part. I still want to draw and have ideas, but don’t even know which software others are using t draw (prob AI lol)

Tumblr is pretty much the only place I post fan art on, but that's because my drawings are mostly tame or trying to be funny/'for the meme' sort of thing for fandom. I get the most interaction on there through the side blog to keep it strictly about fandoms - but I'd be lying if I said that I didn't miss interacting on sites like Deviantart where there was a better comment system before the eclipse update.

I had been looking into alternatives too like pixvi and a new one called inkblot that a lot of people on DA had been reccing recently (but idk if the last one is any good yet). I also gave pillowfort a try, but either I've been the only one posting into the dead communities for the months I had been submitting works or people get mad after following me because I draw for multiple fandoms instead of just the one they had found me through.
