Re: Unmarried women - help...?

Thanks a lot, anon. It’s probably true that they took it personally, but the fact that they can feel personally offended that a woman might not want to marry to begin with is the part that I don’t get maybe.

Oh, hope my post didn’t seem to imply there should be any feelings of “shame” ! There really shouldn’t, my concern was really only about the “feeling like you’re one of comparatively few in this” . But even that comparatively isn’t that few. It’s more that the opposers are annoying, probably.

Thanks a lot for your sympathy. :) I hope it is going well for you too. I believe it’s better to make informed decisions than going with the flow, even if they aren’t the easiest decision to be made.

ayrt

I would guess they fear that one day a woman/their preferred type of partner would not want to pair up with them (or it's happened in the past). It's also possible they took that path of the married partner without giving much thought to it, and need others to validate that it was the right path. That's my hypothesis, anyway.

Oh no, I didn't think you were suggesting single folks should feel shame. Sorry for the confusion; I think I just like ranting.

And thanks.

AYRT - I would guess so. I am afraid I may have been that woman in the past. I find it wild that instead of thinking, "hey, is this archaic marriage arrangement... not working for some women nowadays, perhaps?" they would jump to the conclusion that "therefore, women like that must be shamed" . But I am not saying it like it's anything new, it's just how it is, but when you stop to think about it it's very. Oh. Men DO believe they're entitled to women's lives huh?

Please don't worry! And thanks again. :)
