As the anon above me said, this sounds like an issue of tuning/blocking things. Difficult to curate depending on where your fandom is centered (Reddit? Dreamwidth? Tumblr? The platform formerly known as Twitter? Pillowfort?), but if at all possible, find yourself a corner that doesn't push the canon het at you. Start a Dreamwidth comm or a Tumblr blog for it. Block any and all canon het ship tags and block anyone who acts like an ass about shipping.

I know it sucks when your ship isn't the fandom juggernaut, and the het-vs-slash arguments have been going back and forth for decades, so all I can suggest is curate, curate, curate.
