If anyone feels like adding a TL;DR version of whatever the YT video said, I'd be interested. Assuming the person who made the video knows anything, as opposed to just speculating on the DDoS for views.

The attack was a pain, but I hope it will make fans take more measures to defend and mirror the contents of this treasure trove of stories that's flourished so spectacularly. Or at least, their part of it. IMO, that's the way to respond to knowing that the people who want to burn our library down "won't stop anytime soon."

Muta has experience in cybersecurity and still regularly works in coding/Linux tinkering. So I at least say he has sufficient experience to delve in this.

TL;DR: A branch of Anonymous (Anonymous Sudan) has claimed responsibility for a financially motivated series of DDoS attacks, but Muta agrees with the experts' assertion of this being false. He discusses how these attacks are likely Russian in origin and points to CISA issuing DDoS warnings on US sites back in late June. The video then gives a brief explanation of DDoS attacks (such as bots imitating different computers/users to inundate the servers) and that countermeasures aren't always effective. He also is surprised that Cloudflare was getting thwarted in the process, as Cloudflare can generally handle the beginnings of these attacks automatically. Muta also indicates that the timing of Anonymous Sudan's announcement is more similar to a state-backed organization (like Russia) than a typical hacktivist group. (He does also update the video to reflect Cloudflare stepping in and thwarting Anonymous Sudan alongside the Ao3 admin.)
