Disagree. I’m not OP so maybe I’m wrong but my take on “ick” had more to do with it looking like a hygiene issue. If you’ve ever been around one poorly maintained beard, you can smell it every time you see any full beard. And this screen plus the description of hobo beard makes me think it’s meant to look dirty and unkempt (although it’s really too evenly trimmed and combed for that but I assume it’s because this is a Disney+ show)

It is meant to be one of those beards of depression type things. Fury, at the start has basically given up caring.

You know, I've run into quite a few people who are completely against facial hair. Whether it's normal for their body to grow it or not, the sight of it just seems to ick them hard.
