I remember reading those after having read Harry Potter enough times that I didn't just want to reread it again. I liked Worst Witch, but it was aimed at a younger audience.

I also liked Witch Week by Diana Wynne Jones and later Charlie Bone, though there were some things I wished the latter had done better.
