The VK series started out well enough but it's kinda lost it. If anything it's quite similar to Twilight with the indecisive lovey-dovey Yuki, and the 'charming vampire' Kaname, who frankly takes the whole 'aristocratic vampire' convention to new heights. It's only better because of the pretty art and the lovely side characters. VK needs some serious bloodshed to be interesting again. The whole Kaname and Yuki thing, and Zero being all self-pitying needs to stop. The second arc kinda sucks.

The only thing I found continuous enjoyment in was the Kaien/Yagari interactions.
