I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon.

DC is doing its damndest to end it. Starting to look like even the Blue Beetle will be out performed by the cancelled Supergirl movie just like the Flash was.

I would strongly prefer to have pulp fiction continue to survive in general, instead of only continuing to exist as costumed adventurers basically designed for kids. But, well, that's not the world we live in so let's keep superhero stories around so all of that stuff doesn't die out completely I guess.

Same here.

I tend to like high-concept stuff but admit this is what makes me not get into superhero stuff, I think, just too much. That said, I think you're good! Superheros has been going pretty strong, it's a genre, and it's really difficult to snuff out an entire genre. At worst it may slow down a bit.

Look, I like superheroes fine; what I want dying is the "everything in the genre has to be in the same expanded universe" model Marvel and DC are giving us.

Not secret OP and I don't even mind that, what I mind is all the different characters' lives and stories being subsumed into big "event" movies where the world's about to end and everyone from all the different movies come together to fight the overhyped ultra mega big bad and have one line and zero characterization each.

Like, I'm fine with a world where superheroes are commonplace. But they don't have to all be crammed into a movie at once.

I don't care if Superheros stay or go, I just want good writing and characterization back. Fuck these stupid "twist" endings that make no sense, and shoving characters into other movies that then ruin everything that's come before.
queenslayerbee: Isabelle Adjany as Lucy Harker in 1979's "Nosferatu the Vampire". She's surrounded by darkness, looking over her shoulder while she wears a white nightgown and a cross as a necklace. A hand with long nails like a claw is reaching for her neck from the darkness behind her. (Default)

Even if the movie trend died down and the MCU finally flopped... comics are not going away, and there are decades worth of backlog. And there's something for everyone there.

Enjoy it while it's hot and plentiful.

There were things I was super into that were the biggest thing ever at the peak of their popularity and those were fun AF times.
I've also gotten into a popular thing either after the height of popularity died down or while it was starting to slow down and I always regret not having been into it while it was the Hot Shit.
