I have no idea what's going on in this thread. Y'all are drunk.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-22 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Not everyone is into het.

AYRT

Yeah but folks aren't saying they're not into het. They're saying "there's no chemistry." Those are different sentiments.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-22 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe they just don't see romantic chemistry between Thor and Valkyrie. Romantic chemistry is subjective and very much in the eye of the beholder.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-22 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
AYRT

I don't think that's the case at all. Romantic and sexual chemistry are very much expressed through physical and social cues.

My impression from reading through this thread is that people here think "chemistry" is "people who would logically fit together according to the things that I find interesting." It's no wonder that a decent chunk of people in this space identify as asexual, as that is an incredibly asexual way to parse "chemistry."

🙄

(Anonymous) 2023-08-22 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, it's BAD to be an asexual. All asexuals must be mad and stupid. Shut up

(Anonymous) 2023-08-22 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT

It isn't bad to be asexual. An asexual person is just going to have a harder time seeing and understanding sexual chemistry than a sexual person is.

It's not really any different from a straight person not "getting" a same-sex romance, or a gay person not "getting" a het one.

You're really, really reaching here, and projecting a lot that isn't necessarily so. Also, you're making yourself look like a pretentious ass in the process.

DA

Uh, no. And you're kinda telling on yourself there...

Sorry, but as anon above said, chemistry of any kind is extremely subjective, especially in fictional characters.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-22 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Lol I admit they had amazing bro or BFF chemistry! But not a lick of romantic or sexual chemistry for me.

They get within inches of each other, inhale deeply, sweep their gazes up one another from head to toe, briefly lean in, then gulp as they awkwardly separate.

I have never, in my life, done that with someone I Just Have Friend Chemistry with.

NAYRT, but can you help me out with a particular scene?

I haven’t made a point of rewatching the last two Thor movies and I really don’t know what your referring to. I can completely believe it flew right by me, I’d just like to know where to look for it on a rewatch.

The one I'm describing happens after they each jump back up into the ship after navigating their way out of the asshole.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-22 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
DA - The (blink and you'll miss it) moment you're talking about felt so out of the blue to me that I literally was confused as to what they were meant to be uncomfortable about. It was only on my second watch that I was like, "Wait, was- was that supposed to be sexual tension? Oh god, it was, wasn't it. JFC, how perfunctory can you get? Why are the writers so bad at this?"

(Anonymous) 2023-08-22 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT

Completely disagree. It followed very naturally from their dynamic up to that point.

In your opinion, which is not the same as an objective fact. It is possible for different people to watch the same media and come to completely different conclusions without either one being "right" or "wrong." You're are coming across as an overly invested shipper determined to browbeat everyone else into agreeing with you.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-22 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Same here. I walked out of Ragnarok accidentally shipping her and Loki.
