I agree. For me it felt like instead of creating new projects with interesting ideas DC was more focused on proving that they were the edgy badass older brother to Marvel.

"Oh you have a teamup movie with your B/C list superheroes with a teen TV producer directing and everyone loves it?
Yeah, well we got our Top Tier superheroes and they don't even need a solo movie to garner fan loyalty. Oh and what's that? We have Academy Award winning and nominated producers and directors like Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder working on our universe. We're going to create the Cool Badass version of the Avengers instead and money and praises will rain down on us like a monsoon in the summer."

And like...I think it very much felt like DC made their films to try to prove a point. To varying levels of success too. And it's disappointing because had they not, they probably would be in a better position, had more successful projects (artistically and financially).
