Right? I have a thing with over 4k kudos and 99 comments, lol. (It's a very large fandom and has been up for a long time, plus it's a one-shot.) I consider that a crazy success, but I also have things with around 25 kudos and two comments, and some of those are objectively better-written fiction. Just depends on the audience, ship, timing, all of that.

They sound like someone in a massive fandom with 100+ chapter fics that take a year to post or something.
