No one's saying you have to keep writing. But if it's not fun and you don't have a community you enjoy sharing your stuff with, well...it's fine not to share your stuff. People might bitch and whine, but at the end of the day if you're not happy doing it, don't do it.

People are pointing out that the vast majority of writers (including me, hi!) are lucky if they see double-digits, let alone triple digit comments. If that's your metric for a successful fic, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. And if it's not fun and that metric is what's important to the writer in question, yeah, they're gonna be disappointed and they may stop writing, or at least stop sharing. And they have that right, but if they make a secret like this here then the rest of us have a right to point out where the flaw in their logic is.
