See, I get this feeling that someone is trolling with these secrets about fic writing and comments and kudos and view counts.

I can see OP being smug reading all the comments going, "Dude if you're getting comments at all that's a good sign."

And call me cynical but I can also see OP reading these "grass is greener on the other side" comments and go, "Poor me, no one gets it." And revel in their negative feelings. Because people are withholding kindness and understanding OP is justified in their victim mentality.

When in reality, look bro if you're that worked up over external validation maybe find other avenues to get attention instead of exhausting fandom community energy.

This is absolutely a troll. What they're doing is taking bits and pieces from real fandom discourse and then exaggerating the hell out of it and leaving out other parts people say. OP never comes back to react to any of the comments on these secrets either, which is a red flag.

For example, I don't believe for a second that anyone ever really said if it's not three digit comments they feel inadequate. For one, I'm sure the author's own replies to comments count for those "three digits" as well, but OP didn't count them, so they looked at the story some person online was complaining about getting low engagement, they saw the story had 40 comments (which OP can then exaggerate and say 40 = "fail to reach 3 digits"), even though in reality it's only 15 comments + replies + some people replying to a reply.

If it's then a big fandom on top of that and the author gets thousands upon thousands of hits, it doesn't sound as outlandish anymore as OP tries to depict it. Or it might be multiple chapters and OP conveniently 'forgot' to divide the number of comments by the number of chapters.
