My life as someone who plays games could be summarized in three eras:
1) the I'm playing because that's what we do at home and it's no big deal just me and my friends games phase ;
2) the Oh my God why are people so horrible to me because I like videogames either chauvinist dudebros who like games I like, the guys at my classroom who act like I have cooties and don't wanna trade pokemon with me and the girls who act like I am diseased because it's A Guy's Hobby I'm out of this shit phase
3) the Thank God it's now socially acceptable to have a pink battlestation to play cozy games I'm back into this shit thanks for your hard work girls because I hate to compete for real phase

But UNFORTUNATELY it seems like we are cycling back now because of a very annoying character in internet culture - the Girl Gamer Who Acts EXACTLY Like An Annoying Gamer Dudebro Only They Think They're More Superior For Taking Entertainment Too Seriously and it's getting to me. If I could MURDER A BITCH I would. It feels like we fought too hard for too long for it to be acceptable to enjoy games that are considered "girly" "for filthy casuals" "for faggots" etc and have dedicated communities to it only for some whores in a D.Va chair act oh so One Of The Boys / NLTOG goddammit.

It's not just them though. No idea why fandoms that are overwhelmingly dominated by women have a tendency for being so petty and catty and cliquey and disgusting. The arbitrary rules and fake moral superiority really gets on my nerves. It's as bad as fandoms majorly dominated by men but in a different way. In that vein I miss my old friends from this one game that was fairly 50/50 in terms of gender audience (half of the guild went on to come out as trans* later is that it? Am I supposed to join a trans* gamers club?? Would that solve my issues or give me new ones???)

Ehhh, assholes are everywhere. Especially in competitive hobbies. It's more about finding people you can vibe with and enjoy the game with IME.
