YouTubers think they're intellectually superior to the rest of us because they read a Wikipedia page once. We all need to stop watching YouTube.

Nah, we don't need to go that far. Just click "don't recommend channel to me" whenever you see one of these videos with these stupid titles.

This!

Also, I'd like to add boosting videos/channels that cite their sources/issues corrections if needed.

On that same note, I'm indiscriminate on its use.

The moment I see a YouTuber relying on clickbait, ragebait, or use the w-word unironically, I block that channel without a second thought.

Sadly they are also always on the search and you can't click dobvt recommend there

For that, I have Channel Blocker as an addon.

With the amount of garbage I get on search, I installed it, and manually block channels that are either spam or sus as all fuck.

Oh man I hate those types of videos, and it's not just for the insult to my intelligence that I can't parse a movie or TV show, but that they're deliberate click bait to make people like me click on it going 'pfff I know what it means' and it's aggravating as hell. So I don't engage with them at all.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-02 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Clickbait to drive engagement. It is a "tip" on those how to youtuber tutorials. Do it so people do feel the urge to comment and say they they did already know this. All hail the algorithm.

IFLS is doing this now too. "People are just learning..." no. No they're not. I've stopped reading the site regularly which sucks because it's supposed to be driving science literacy, not driving people away.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-02 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
But to find out that you already knew the thing they're talking about you had to actually watch the video. Which is the point of those titles. And obviously it works.

Clickbait titles are pretty annoying, but man, I almost prefer them to overly-punny titles. Brought to you by someone who likes puns and cats, but finds "Pawsitively Pawdorable Purrfect Meowmes" a little much.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-03 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
oh nooooooo that’s TOO much

(Anonymous) 2023-09-02 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate all the ones for media that are like SHOW/MOVIE ENDING EXPLAINED … for shows that aren’t actually hard or mysterious to understand

(Anonymous) 2023-09-03 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
YES

(Anonymous) 2023-09-03 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
And also, by "explained" they mean "recapped"

(Anonymous) 2023-09-03 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
The "No One Remembers" video titles annoy me because some of them are well remembered!
