High-five from a fan of consensual bodymod. (I really attached to those sci-fi stories where you can use nanomachines to turn yourself into a mermaid or whatever.) So, so much bodymod content is rape, and that’s not getting into the guro stuff or the weird amount of scat in Legends of Belial stories. On sites that don’t have trigger warnings, I hate going into a story not knowing whether or not it will be rape.

Yes, I meant 'our' not 'pur'.

And to answer people's questions of why I think it veers into squick for me, I think part of it is that the auntie is asexual, so more often than not writes non-sexually charged versions of our kink that also focus heavily on angst and self-recrimination. The whole package tends to veer into unpleasant, depressing realism rather than enjoyable escapist kink. Like, sometimes I don't even know what the author wants readers to get out of their fic, despite it being clearly tagged.

For the record, I'm ace and I hate this kind of fic. Like there's nothing wrong with it, and people can and should write what they want, but it's basically the opposite of what I want from smut/kink--which is for it to be extremely horny and very much a fantasy version of what sex/kink is like.

I know you weren't actually generalizing about how all ace people write smut. But still, just for the record, some of us like out smut wildly horny, filthy, and deliriously escapist. lol.

No, I totally get that! This author has also written great filthy stuff that I like, and also non explicit and non sexually charged stuff that I also like. They just seem to really like writing this non sexual angsty stuff more often than not. Like, two characters will be in a relationship with this kinky stuff going on in the background but it will be played totally straight and depressingly. Like, to the point where it seems neither character is even into what's happening.

Obviously this author should be writing what they want and I'm glad they're enjoying whatever they're doing. I just really don't get it!
