I don't watch it, but it definitely reached me. The hosts wore costume serape and sombreros, made a Juan joke, shook maracas, unironically mispronounced guacamole and pico de gallo. Also, one of the contestants tried to peel an avocado.

I thought it mostly extreme ignorance and what offended me was that they obviously did NO research before doing the show (look at what they did to our beloved smores!!!). But I'm not Mexican, so...

We actually feel honored when people wear ponchos, sombreros, and maracas. We only wore then in the very early 20th century, but we get a laugh when people wear them. Hell, we wear them for the Mes Patrio in September or Soccer games.

The mispronunciations, pico de gallo, lack of research, and peeling an avocado? Stuff like that would be more in the vein of "jajajaja, pinches gringos pendejos." Hell, when Hachaama from Hololive (intentionally) did the worst tacos ever for her stream, there were a lot of donations from mexican fans having a laugh about it.

It's nothing to calling mexicans criminals or savages, or Jeremy Clarkson when he called Mexicans smelly, which actually did cause controversy here in Mexico. And even then, that is weird, because one of our own movies makes fun of ourselves for that. Prolly a case of "b" word privileges.

Yeah, it's not up to me to call their treatment of Mexican culture or food offensive. As a researcher, however, I'm greatly offended because what the shit? Even if they never met a native Spanish speaker in their lives, they couldn't find someone saying it on youtube?? Lazy!
