I'm okay with Discord when the fandom is... well, under 100 active in a day (not all at the same time, obviously). Otherwise, it doesn't matter how many rooms you open, it's impossible to carry on a goddamn conversation and it's drowning and further isolating.

The opposite can kind of suck too, but at least you won't miss a conversation, heh.

This! I got in really early with my current fandom, and I joined a discord server of about 80 and had a great time. Over the course of a couple of months it boomed to over 500 and was unbearable.
