People are tired of the "We chose the BEST person and it just happens that's NEVER a white actress now", and the "Feminism means NO romance ever and NO needing help from anyone ever" and the general contempt people like Zegler and Iger have for existing fans who loved Disney and these characters.
We didn't hear this about Moana because Moana was a new character rooted in her culture, with good songs, and who chose love over hate and needed assistance from Maui. She wasn't some well known Disney Princess rewritten as an uptight Girl Boss and then recast as a black character. If it was just rAcIsM then Moana would have failed horribly.
Disney is losing money, like it or not and people are pointing out some of the reasons that is. The Black Disney Mermaid movie did badly and Disney need to own that.
