Favorite character arcs

What characters do you think had the most well-done or most interesting overall arcs?

I liked Agent Kallus' redemption arc in Rebels. They set it up perfectly with him being a competent officer and a true believer in the empire, and it was in large part that competence that led to his disillusionment as all the various fuck ups, corruption, and deliberate cruelty [as opposed to ruthlessness in pursuit of actual purpose] were as much a factor in him switching sides as the warmth and decency of the Rebels themselves. Neither factor alone could have made him turn, but seeing the empire's wastefulness and the Rebels honorableness both combined into making him be the better person.

Jimmy and Kim in Better Call Saul.

For a side character, Charles Brandon in The Tudors. He's King Henry's best friend and they both start the series as shallow fuckboys, but Charles' personality matures and evolves over time, while Henry just becomes more of a corrupt tyrant.

Jaime on GoT had a great redemption arc going on but then those final seasons happened. :/

Walter White on Breaking Bad was a great downfall arc.

I also love the Michael's arc to becoming the Godfather.

I was just coming to say Jaime damn near had a perfect one but D&D fucked it up. But that’s what fic is for!

I've always been fascinated by Wesley's arc and evolution on Buffy and Angel. The Wes at the end of Angel is so far removed from the character we met on Buffy, but was done so gradually and with legit story driven reasons that it felt natural (if heartbreaking and frustrating by turns). Angel was often a mess of a show, but I still find Wesley a really interesting character.

Lobelia Sackville-Baggins. Spoon thief, resistance fighter (against frightening odds- I don't think Tolkien realised how frightening), public benefactress. She's awesome.

Steve Harrington

Anyone plays tabletop games?

(Anonymous) 2023-09-24 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Seems like it's one of the rare hobbies.

I do whenever I get together with family! Its our thing. Sadly I've yet to find friends that have any interest in getting together to play. There are a few meet up groups in my area that people speak highly of, but the social anxiety has me paralyzed on that whole situation.

I did back when I lived in a city where I had an active group of friends. We had dedicated tabletops afternoon or nights.
I had to move though and since then I haven't be able to get a new group of friends to play with. Such a waste... I have a lot of great games...

I am sorry your friends abandoned you.
I had all of my so-called close and good friends leave me over a period of five and a half years.

Not RPGs unfortunately because I just cannot get a group together. But my partner and I have a board/card game night almost every week. Clue, Rumikube, Battleship, Uno, checkers, and Backgammon are our favorites. Once I finish the remodel in our den, I’m going to host an occasional no-stakes poker night with some neighbours.
