Favorite story arcs

What are your favorite arcs from tv shows, movie series, book series, game series, or whatever?

The Nogitsune arc was the best thing Teen Wolf ever did.

Season 4 of Supenatural was amazing.

Uhhhh. All of Bioshock?

Oh man, yeah, without s4, I never would have gotten into SPN. I wasn't into it when it was just the brothers doing a monster of the week thing, but once it had this huge cosmic overarching story (and, of course, Cas), when I did go back to the first three seasons I liked them more for having been on that ride that started with 4! Like it wasn't just that it was a good arc on its own, it's that it made everything else feel better too.

For Doctor Who, my favorite overall arcs are series 4, series 5, River's general arc, Missy's general arc, and 12's general arc (especially in series 8).

I love the whole general arc of Babylon 5 and the fact that there is a general arc over the whole show. In particular I love G'Kar's journey and Sinclair's journey (with it's epic conclusion).

I love both Luke and Leia's general arcs in the Star Wars movies. Also Obi-Wan's journey.

I love the arc of Buffy season 2 and season 5 in particular.

I love the whole LOTR arc, the journey all these characters take, how we weave in and out of all of them, how they all have a role to play.

I love the general story of the Second Age of Middle Earth. It just interests me.

Of the MCU characters, I think Nat has the best journey overall. Her conclusion feels like an actual fitting conclusion.

I agree with you about LOTR.

it’s a tie between Alabasta and Water 7/Enies Lobby in One Piece for me

Water 7 is so damn good. I think the whole saga might be my favourite storyline from any media, ever.

What fandom do you wish had more fans?

I'd always love more Silmarillion fans because then we'd get more fic. The fandom is decently active, but I always wish for more.

I miss the Legend of the Seeker fandom, so I wish that was still active.

All of my favorite podcasts. Especially Wolf 359 and We're Alive. Had We're Alive been released in like 2019, it would have been huge.

Wolf 359 fandom was great, until they got REAL messy over "they killed off the Black-coded woman" while the show was still running and I had to bail because the tumblr tag was just flooded with cries of misogynoir and general rage at the cast and crew for weeeeeeks. I couldn't even relisten to the series once it wrapped because it just felt, idk, tainted, because I couldn't reconcile the warm happy feelings from the first couple seasons with how things ended up.

Oh, I am going to try to listen to We are Alive. I don't have a good record with survival podcasts.
Speaking of I really wish that Definitely Human podcasts were more popular, they are my brand of cynical and I love them.

I thought that Wolf 359 had a decent fandom for a podcast though.

Due South... If only I could turn back time and join the fandom when it was massive... alas, I was merely a blastocycst.

It has slowed down a lot, but it's still got active fans. It's not too late!

Re: Based on 1

(Anonymous) 2023-09-28 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Succession. There's a fair amount of fic, but it's slowed now that the show's over.

Non-spoiler spoiler: none of the ships are ruined in this show to my knowledge.

And post-finale fic is good, but I wish for moooooooore. There are so many possibilities that can't be jossed now by canon.

And it would be cool to see more tropes and AUs and weird stuff that you see often in genre settings but not so much in a businessy show. ;_;

For as popular as the U.S. version of "Ghosts" seems to be in terms of viewership and whatnot, I'm surprised its online presence isn't bigger. Hopefully as time goes on the fanbase will continue to grow in that way.

That Eurotrash Cartoon Fan would like to say "LastMan" once again but... honestly, the second season was Not That Good and that one controversial original creator has tainted the whole franchise by association so... heh. I don't know.

I always wish more people would read comics. Guys plz, they're fun I promise! You already like superheroes please look at these pictures! You don't even have to read much I PROMISE!

But also I like it being small. I'm torn.

I DID IT

[personal profile] dani_phantasma 2023-09-28 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
After being out of my medication for nearly TWO WEEKS with my psychiatrist basically ignoring me, being in the negatives money wise and having a bunch of time on my hands I just spent 3-4 days straight pounding out a nonfiction writing book about worldbuilding.

Just submitted it to the site I'm on for publishing and it's under review right now. I'm nervous but also just plain exhilarated. I'm in shock.. I have been trying to write a book for ages and I just wrote one in about a week

HOW the frick does THAT work.

I mean I guess when you're desperate and manic enough.

That's amazing! Congratulations! Isn't it funny how you can struggle and struggle and struggle and then suddenly when it clicks it feels like the easiest thing in the world and just magically flows and gets done? I haven't had that feeling in years but I still remember it.

Hoping your meds etc all get straightened out, but for now he'll yeah to accomplishment!
