I was too young to watch X-Files when it was big, so watching the early episodes as an adult after the fact, I was amazed at how...kinda normal Mulder was? Like obviously he's a conspiracy theorist and a bit odd, but after all the caricatures over the years, the lack of exaggeration was surprising to me. It made sense how he and Scully interacted, they were adults and professionals in their field, and treated each other as such.

I'm sure as it went on, that changed, but still, it was refreshing how well they worked together and played off each other.
