I remember the very first time I saw someone vomit onscreen - it was an episode of Everwood and the character was recovering from a serious illness, so that was a sign something was going wrong with his recovery. I remember being shocked that they showed it but kind of understanding why they felt it was important to show it to really shock the audience into seeing it was serious business. That being said, more and more TV shows stopped using the vomit discretion shot and I just don't understand why. FFS it's not funny! And the amount of shows that show it for laughs boggles my mind.
