(Anonymous) 2007-04-05 12:18 am (UTC)(link)What I don't think a lot of the previous commenters are taking into account is that there /are/ other characters people could cosplay. There are heavier characters, black/darkskinned characters, short characters, tall characters, etc. You just never hear about them because so much emphasis is put on the people cosplaying skinny light-skinned characters.
By all means, have fun. It's what cosplay is about. But, at the same time, know that if you aren't the right body type for a character, chances are, you'll end up on cosplayfucks or 4chan.

Yeah, people just don't want to bother with selecting characters they can cosplay well. It applies to everyone regardless of whether they're considered attractive, thin, overweight, what have you. There are going to be characters that some should cosplay and others that they should not. Liking a character's design doesn't mean you should automatically cosplay that character.
It is all about fun, but my eyes as well as the eyes of others really don't need to see another 350 lb Gunner Yuna.
