I don't mind so much the former; it's the latter that bugs me. That or repeatedly saying "X IS A MARY SUE/GARY STU" when they really... aren't, and the person is just trying to justify their hate. If people say "I don't like so-and-so because ______," I'm more likely to take it respectfully than the "I CAN'T STAND SO AND SO BECAUSE THEY ARE A BITCH AND WHINY AND ALSO A MARY SUE AND THEY GET IN THE WAY OF MY PAIRING" and etc.

See, that's more understandable. If you're going to hate someone, I would think would be calm and intelligent about it, express your hate quietly instead of making a big deal about it. Like so:

Person 1: I'm writing a Rinoa/Squall fanfiction, would you care to read it?
Person 2: Ehh, no thanks. I don't like Rinoa's character that much.
Person 1: Oh okay. :D

Instead of:
Person 1: I'm writing a Rinoa/Squall fanfiction, would you care to read it?
Person 3: WHAT? EWW NO RINOA MUST DIE!!!! SHE'S A MARY SUE AND OMG SHE STEALS SQUALL FROM SEIFER AND HSKHSKGHKS *FOAMS AT MOUTH*
Person 1: o_o *regrets asking and backs away quicky*
