Oof, I could have written this secret. Sorry you're going through this too. I'm definitely having a "hell is other people" sort of time with this fandom, and it's kind of simultaneously killing my motivation to keep making fanworks and also kind of becoming my motivation to keep making fanworks (kind of as a way to spite the larger fandom or just not let other people ruin my love for something). I don't think it's sustainable and probably going to lead me to eventual burnout.

Was very close to burning down the house because of accidentally setting the timer for much longer than I had intended and had left to get changed instead of watching it warm my dinner (thankfully the microwave lived).
But on the upside, got to meet up with a friend and tried some gluten-free pancakes at a restaurant that were delicious earlier 8D

Oh, this is gonna be slightly embarrassing!

The first I can remember is Venkman/Dana from Ghostbusters, hahaha (boy, is that one full of red flags for me, now). Then:

April/Casey Jones from the original TMNT
Mulder/Scully from X-Files
Max/Logan from Dark Angel
John/Aeryn from Farscape

As you can see, I was extremely conventional. But interestingly, in all of these cases, I was attracted to the female half of the pairing, and living vicariously through the male half. Once I accepted that I'm attracted to women, I became open to femmeslash.

I'm glad she helps you. I don't think this is anything to be ashamed of or feel bad about. It's a big part of why representation matters: not just for race and gender, but body types and other things too. The more we see positive/powerful representations, the more we realize it's possible for ourselves and others.
