These books are so fucking good. What the hell is Twilight doing with such a large fanbase, when books like this, the Abhorsen series, etc. exist. I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

I still haven't read Twilight, so I can't say anything about that. What I remember from the bartimaeus books is that I've read all of them as fast as I could. They are those books I can't stop reading. I finished the last book and went online to read everything I could find about it. A lot of my RL friends have read the books, but I've never seen fans online until now. The books are not unknown, seems like there is no/just a small fandom. That's sad.

I've read the books several times now, in english and german. I just love the way it is written and the humour.

Yes! They are just so good. The characters are so compelling, and the author found a way to make wizards work in a very different way than has been done before. I have yet to meet anyone IRL who has read them, but then again, I live in a small town, haha. :)

I live in a small town, too, but there are a lot of people who have read the books, I was really surprised. According to the responses to this secret there some fans on lj. There is already a community, I joined it. It's not to late to make a fandom. Hm I never thought about being in a book fandom before, I'm usually a hardcore series fan.

The author just turned everything around, it is the opposite of the usual stuff about wizards and supernatural beings. That is cool, great to interpret.
