You know who’s always missing from this argument? The people who make the actual games and decide what audience they’re gonna sell to. If they decide they like the new guy’s money better than yours, then you stop giving them money and buy from people who still make what you want. Trying to drive off the new guy so the devs can only get your money is a pointless exercise in brand loyalty. (This is something horror game fans already figured out, when horror franchises that get big so often turn into action-adventure with horror trappings.)
